Construction Work Begins on the Main Connecting Road in the Trnovlje – South Economic-Business Zone

As part of the "Trnovlje – South Economic-Business Zone Development" project, construction work has begun on the 270-meter-long Connecting Road A. Together with the already completed Road E, this road will form the core infrastructure of the business zone, where the Municipality of Celje (MOC) is developing and equipping both existing and new areas for business activities.

Project Details and Timeline
The contract value for Connecting Road A is €1,004,861, with the construction work being carried out by Remont NG. The company is expected to complete the works by July. So far, all preparatory and earthworks have been completed, including construction related to public lighting, gas pipelines, and the water supply system. The primary gas pipeline has also been installed.

Enhanced Accessibility and Infrastructure
Road A will connect the new areas of the economic-business zone to the roundabout at Bežigrajska Road, ensuring fast and efficient access to the Celje – East highway interchange.

Along this road, the main sustainable infrastructure measures will be implemented, including:

  • A blue-green infrastructure system, featuring an irrigation system for park greenery using stormwater,
  • Tree-lined avenues and park landscaping,
  • Dedicated cycling lanes and a public bike-sharing system (KolesCE),
  • Public transport access (Celebus),
  • Electric vehicle charging stations,
  • Solar-powered public lighting,
  • An eco-island for waste separation,
  • A collection center for product reuse.

Upcoming Developments and Investment Overview
In the spring, the first public auctions for the sale of building plots within the zone will be held for interested investors. The project is scheduled for completion next year.

The total investment in the Trnovlje – South Economic-Business Zone is valued at over €1.8 million, with the Municipality of Celje receiving up to €1.1 million in non-repayable EU funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).
